Engineering
WordPress Developer
Build client sites in WordPress that stay fast and don't collapse the first time someone edits a page.
What you’d actually do
- Build custom themes and blocks rather than assembling plugins
- Keep sites fast under real hosting conditions and real content volumes
- Set up editing experiences a marketing coordinator can use without breaking the layout
- Handle migrations, security hardening and the unglamorous maintenance work
What we need from you
- PHP and the WordPress template hierarchy, properly understood
- Enough frontend skill to build the theme rather than only wire it up
- Scepticism about plugins as a solution to everything
Helpful, not required
If you have most of “what we need” and none of these, apply. The list above is genuinely optional rather than a hidden requirement.
We hire when we meet the right person, not against a headcount plan. There’s no closing date and no advantage to applying in the first week.
How hiring works hereThe process
- A conversation — what you’ve built, what you want more of, what you’d rather never do again.
- A short practical exercise related to the real work. Paid where it takes real time; no week-long take-homes.
- A conversation with the people you’d work alongside — two-way, so you can interview us back.
